Does the ATC accept both boys and girls?

Yes, the Air Training Corps is open to both boys and girls. The skills learned are equally useful to both and certainly the grins after the flying events are equally wide.

How Old Does My Son/Daughter need to be, to join?

We enrol all our cadets after the age of 13 years and 3 months however a cadet may join on their 13th birthday to allow for the training required. Cadets cannot join after their 18th birthday.

Do I have to pay for the ATC uniform?

No, every cadet will recieve thier "Blues" uniform free, with the exception of shoes."Greens" uniform cannot always be issued, but can be obtained from any Army Surplus Store. See our links page for some top online traders.
When Does The Squadron Meet?

Currently 1004 Squadron meets every Tuesday and Thursday and on occasions the weekend. We do not have a strict policy on when a cadet should attend, however regular attendance to all activities is encouraged. 1004 Squadron enrolls new cadets on every tuesday evening, new cadets are encouraged, (to aid our administartion staff) to join up on tuesday evenings only, or to contact the squadron if this is a problem.


Is there a maximum age for ATC cadets?

Yes, all cadets must leave when they reach the age of 20, at the age of 20 many cadets go on to become either Civilian Instructors (20+), Staff NCO (20+) or Commisioned VRT Officer (21+).

How much does joining the ATC cost?

Subscriptions to squadrons can vary depending on the activities offered. Our squadron is currently charging £10 a month for enrolled cadets and 50p a night for all new cadets (first 4 - 8 weeks - Not inclusive of first week) This should not be a barrier to any cadet wanting to join experiencing family financial difficulties, you should let the CO know of your situation. We encourage all cadets to use our direct debit monthly subscription which is £10 a month. For more information on this, please see a member of staff.
